A Surreal Day
A surreal day
When trashcans may
Bounce their way
Across the interstate
Dream worlds merge
With words I've heard
And leave me perched
On the edge of Fate.
The thicker shade
Is the price paid
For the one who stayed
Up far too late.
The veil of sleep
Is replete
With images that beat
Against reality's gate.
And all the world
Keeps slipping away
And all my fantasies
Come out and play.
And I stand here.
I look and spy
Small birds fly
Through the sky
Going backward
I see the scene
Low and mean
I shout and scream
Still unheard
To the beat
My heart retreats
Only to meet
The one untoward
With poison's sting
I scream and sing
Then take to wing
And move forward.
And all the world
Keeps slipping away
And all my fantasies
Come out and play.
And I stand here.
And the world
Is confused
And my soul
Has been used
By the fearless,
Faceless nemesis
And the worlds
That collide
In my overwhelmed
Mind's eye
Are too sharp
And too soft
To stay in my
Mind's premisis
The dreams of night
Stay through the flight
To grow in might
And flower
The scenes of light
Come and alight
To win the fight
And Power
Overwhelmed
By fortune's helm
I dwell in this realm
For an hour
And then I make
My escape
And I take
Me to my tower
And all the world
Keeps slipping away
And all my fantasies
Come out and play
And I stand here.
And all the world
Slips away
And I stand here
And say
I am here
And I stand here
